Purpose:
The purpose of the Alu Lab was to take DNA samples from our cheeks and find out our genotype to figure out where our ancestors came from. After using the micropipets to isolate our DNA from our cheek cells we prepared a PCR reaction for our Alu gene.

Results:
After doing all the steps and going through the whole process I found out my genotype for the Alu locus gene was Homozygous Negative. I had one band at 400.
Conclusion:
In this lab it was very cool to see how we could take our DNA in a simple classroom and learn what kind of gene we had. I was able to learn what the Alu gene is.
